Riley

Heather Platt heard of a 6 month old male Weimaraner waiting to be rescued from the Naugatuck Animal Shelter (Flora's Pet Project) in March 2003.  Fortunately, Heather was also giving serious thought to getting a "sibling" for Willow, her 2 year old female Weimaraner. Upon hearing about the 6 month old male Weimaraner at the shelter, Heather made it her mission to make him Willow's new little brother. After many hours of prayers and a few interviews, Willow's new little brother was finally brought home. His name was changed to "Riley" soon after. The first 6 months of Riley's life were a little unstable and therefore when he was brought home he was very attached, following Heather everywhere. With positive reinforcement and many kisses he grew more confident and secure with his surroundings. He was a quick learner and followed his sister when unsure of what to do ( he was not housebroken and thought any room was ok territory!). From the beginning Willow was very tolerant with her new brother - only after many hours of play would she eventually grow tired or maybe bored and let Riley know that she had enough!!

Heather reports that "I wonder if the original owner ever thinks about this wonderful Weimaraner he gave up......certainly his loss was our gain!!  I think if he saw Riley he would have second thoughts about giving him up... Riley is very tall and handsome. Willow now has a brother she can occasionally steal food from and I have a buddy who loves to snuggle close and rest his head on my shoulder at the end of a long day ( who could ask for anything more). Our family is now complete!!"
