Shelby

Lucky Dogs!!
Judy and Paul Phillips report their success with Shelby, "We brought our first adoptee, Norman, a 2 year old, home to join our male Yellow and female Chocolate Lab in 2004. Although it was unfortunate Norman’s parents new baby was allergic to him, it was certainly our gain. Norman loves all people and dogs and has the greatest joy and zest for life we have ever seen.
In 2005 we adopted 2 year old Bo, we affectionately nicknamed Bo Bo. He had separation anxiety issues, mainly barking and needed to build up his strength and agility. A year later, we are still working on his barking, but he is the self appointed alert dog of the household so it’s his job. He loves waking to the sound of birds and flushing them out of the woods.
Little Shelby, a five year old female, came to live with us a month ago. Her parents were busy professionals so she was giving them some problems with separation anxiety. She was the only dog in her last household, but she is enjoying her new family here. She put the boys on notice she did not welcome some of their advances and gives Molly, the Chocolate Lab, the respect of a mother. Shelby didn’t eat well when she was alone so she has been putting on weight and getting into the household routine. As you can see in the photo, she is busy finishing her biscuit. Her legs were lacking in strength, but after a month she is keeping up with the two males who are twice her size. Due to her size, we have nicknamed her Little Bit, but her spirit is huge.
We had to put our Yellow Lab to sleep after he gave us ten wonderful years. Filling our home with these wonderful, loving, humanlike dogs has been what we needed. We have a large old farmhouse with ten acres surrounded by invisible fencing, so they can get the exercise they have to have with the limits they need. Watching three healthy, happy Weimaraners come running flat out up a ten acre field is a sight to behold!"
